This is intended to be an (a) interactive, (b) multi-directional Web site: one smart node on a world-wide network that works for those who make it up. The goal of all programs under The Commons is to put the low cost, widely available tools of the Information Society to work to help us communicate efficiently and together to build for the future.

The kinds and range of contact possibilities is rapidly expanding and improving -- and one of our secondary objectives is to make a contribution toward sharing not only this information, but also to spur the use of these group work tools with the growing numbers of people and groups around the world who share our concerns about sustainability and social justice

The Commons makes use of several levels of electronic contact. First, direct email contacts between users and the organizers -- via the Contact The Commons email link. In addition, there is the @World Forum which is used both for announcements of forthcoming events. In addition, you are invited to explore the expanding communications toolkit that is offered by our @World Forum, which you can access directly simply by clicking the link on the menu to your left.

That we all get together to do this freely and in a neighborly manner is just part of a whole broader process. All progress toward sustainability is going to be something that we will achieve rather like this -- by working together, simply, efficiently and without a whole lot of personal afterthoughts.
